Like many modern spiritual guru's, Tolle's work often draws from eastern thought, but I've nevertheless found his ideas is to quite unique. Living in the now is the lynchpin tenant for Tolle, and everything else he teaches finds its origins there. If you want to know what this book is about in nutshell, it could be boiled down to this: The Present Moment is all you need to worry about in life. In retrospect, the book came at a pivotal point in my life and it has genuinely helped me explore the basic, repetitive fears that underpin my anxiety.
THE POWER OF NOW CRACK
I was in college at the time, and I was just about to crack due to the constant stress I placed on myself (actually, to be honest I did eventually crack, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been). I first listened to the Power Of Now shortly after it came out. This is also a great title to have on audio as you can listen to it when you're driving as an incredible reminder to Be Here Now. I'm glad to have found it at an important part of my life. It's one of the most critical keys to success and happiness.
The Power of Now will help you spend more time in the present. They spend way too much time in the past or the future. The probably is many people are very unbalanced. I think that planning for the future and balancing "doing" with "being" is the key.
Now I don't agree with Eckhart that we should entirely be in the present moment all (or most all) of the time. Since listening to the Power of Now I've been catching myself more and more when I slip into the future or the past. I'm the kind of person whose thought pattern goes something like this: future, future, future, past, future, future, past, future, future, future. And in part because of how infrequently I follow its basic principles. He lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Power of Now blew my mind. For the past ten years, he has acted as a counselor and spiritual guide, facilitating sold-out groups in Europe and North America. It marked the beginning of an intense inward journey and he devoted the next decade to understanding, deepening, and integrating that transformation. At 29, a profound spiritual awakening virtually dissolved his personal identity and sparked a radical change in the course of his life. A native of Germany, Eckhart Tolle attended the University of London, and upon graduation went on to become a research scholar and supervisor at Cambridge University. His #1 NYT bestselling book is a modern classic in the field of personal growth and spirituality Oprah Winfrey credits The Power of Now with helping her to “get through September 11, 2001” and she featured it on her December 2002 “Oprah’s Favorite Things” show.
